Google is currently working on patenting a temporary electronic tattoo with Motorola that would be able to stick to the user’s throat. The patent, which was published last week, states that the tattoo would be able to communicate with smartphones, tablets, gaming devices, and various types of wearable technology such as Google Glass. It would work similar to a Bluetooth-style connection and would include a power source and microphone. Users would be able to communicate with their devices via voice commands without having to wear an earpiece or use the Google Glass headset.
Another possibility mentioned in the ten page patent document states that the temporary electronic tattoo could also be used as a lie detector. This would be done by including a galvanic skin response detector, which would able to detect the reactions of users. “Galvanic” is a term that is in reference to the way that some surfaces and skin are able to conduct electricity. Outside of these options, the document even mentions that possible uses could include making incoming and outgoing audio clearer, such as for use with a smartphone. Clearly, while there are many options available for the use of the technology, Google hasn’t chosen any option specifically prior to the patent filing.
Images attached to the patent filing depict the tattoo with a size similar to a postage stamp or a small band-aid. The documents also mention that in addition to being able to stick to the throat with the use of an adhesive, the tattoo could also be used on a collar or a band around the user’s neck. Although it remains unclear about how this upcoming temporary electronic tattoo will be used, there are already an array of possibilities that are being presented. As wearable technology such as Google Glass continue to evolve, there will be countless additional opportunities to make use of options such as the upcoming temporary electronic tattoo.

Although it’s undeniable that Google Glass is easily one of the most cutting edge forms of technology to hit the public market, there are many people who simply haven’t invested into owning a pair due to the overall chunky appearance of the design. However, the company recently released a new design for Google Glass, which may be just what was needed to spur more interest in the already popular new addition to Google’s line of tools and products for the technologically inclined.
The recent redesign of the Google Glass pairs the initial design with a more sleek style. It looks far less bulky and comes in a few more color choices than what was previously available. The new design has a more minimalist nature and looks great worn on both men and women. There are also a few other elements that Google has brought into the design. The redesigned Google Glass features a mono earbud that plugs into the Glass itself. For those who tried out the initial design when it was first released, Google will be replacing their Glass models with the newly redesigned option later on in the year.
As Google Glass continues to evolve, gain new features, and even change in style, more people are likely to be interested in purchasing their own. There are some who claim that the retail price of Glass may be the biggest element that has people thinking twice about whether or not they want to purchase the technology; however, given the amount of people who are already starting to get interested in Glass again after the announcement of the redesign, price may not be a factor at all. Ultimately, Glass continues to be one area that has set Google far apart and ahead from the rest of its competitors.

Associate professor of music at Cornell University, Cynthia Turner, is now trying out Google Glass in the classroom during rehearsals and concerts. She won a contest to test out the new Google technology. She is now trying to figure out interesting ways that she can incorporate the technology into her daily life and the educational experience that she provides at the university. Her ideas so far have included streaming video from the Glass to give a view from the perspective of the conductor or musician during a concert and also using the Glass app to embed a condensed score.
Turner has already started keeping a blog of her explorations with the new technology. In one blog, she mentions that she believes that if Mozart was alive today, he would have been a classical rock star and probably the first in line to try out the new technology. She also mentions that computer assisted devices might have been able to make Beethoven a little happier and allowed him to accomplish even more. Being able to consider the use of Google Glass from a musician’s perspective certainly provides a little more insight into just how broad of an experience it can provide for anyone who uses the new technology.
According to the Cornell Chronicle, Turner is exploring the use of Google Glass with the help of Tyler Ehrlich. He’s from the upcoming graduating class of 2014 and is known to be a technology addict. Although Turner originally opted to try to use Glass to determine whether or not the technology would even be relevant in daily life, her blog seems to reflect that she is now deciding that Google Glass and its amazing technology could provide a vast array of experiences that were not previously possible.

Earlier in the year, Google sent recruiters throughout the country to find balloon engineers and seamstresses. For many, it seems like it would be a strange combination of talents and occupations for Google to take sudden interest within. A significant amount of the women and men that were approached by Google for the project were not even informed of why they were being hired. However, as Google continues to maintain its stature as the world’s most popular search engine, many people applied to the mystery opportunity with the hope of being the next professionals to work on the latest innovative technology that Google can offer.
Google’s latest development is called Project Loon. The company plans to send countless Google balloons into the stratosphere. If the project works correctly, those balloons will be able to beam down various wireless Internet signals to rural and remote communities. They would be targeting areas that are known to have poor access to broadband connections. The idea would completely redefine how internet connections are accessed in these areas and would make high speed internet access available to demographics that were previously unable to have a strong internet connection at all.
With almost endless announcements and releases of new Google technology, many are beginning to wonder what Google will come up with next. While much of what Google does involves a large amount of experimentation in order to develop these innovations, much of what is actually behind it is weighted in a solid vision for business and maintaining the reputation that Google has acquired over the past 15 years. As the company has almost rarely released anything that didn’t instantly gain the approval of users around the globe, there are many who are anxiously awaiting Project Loon and many other Google innovations that will be looming around the corner.

It has been said that the continued evolution and development of Google’s products has been leading to increasing improvement in stocks throughout the technology sector. This past Friday, Google experienced a 13.8% single day gain, which happened directly after the company had reported having earnings far better than even they had expected. Stock experienced an instant jump in price, though many are saying that they expect for the climbing progression to stop shortly instead of continuing to rise, which would make competition in the technology sector more difficult to overcome. However, with the latest surge of success from Google, it has also prompted similar results for other technology giants such as Apple, Amazon.com, and Check Point Software Technologies. As Google continues to develop and release new products, these companies must follow in line by releasing their latest technology to the public as well, causing the technology sector to become more active and popular than ever before. The recent undeniable success of Google’s endeavors to bridge the gaps in technology has many people becoming more interested in investing in Google’s stock, as well as encouraging budding coders and other technology professionals to get more involved with their role in the industry. Ultimately, it seems that Google is now at the forefront of leading the technology comeback. Currently in development of two autonomous car models from Lexus and Prius, recently releasing Google Glass, and also focusing on the new release of its service uProxy, Google is becoming more involved in our daily lives and reaching a global impact. If the most recent statistics and stock values are any indication, Google will continue to race towards developing the most cutting-edge technology that will not only make day to day tasks more efficient, but also lead towards life-changing technology.
Minecraft players can now experience the game in a completely new way thanks to Google’s incorporation of quantum physics. For many Minecraft players, one of the reasons that the game has become so popular is due to the fact that the universe within the game has stayed faithful to the physics of the real world.
A new software package provided by Google will now ensure that this feat is even more realistic by adding in quantum physics, which is an area of the laws of nature that was previously not included.
The new mod is called qCraft and allows players to experiment with entanglement, objects that are able to exist in a ‘superposition’ of numerous states at once, and quantum teleportation.
Caltech quantum mechanic Spyridon Michalakis worked together with Google to create the mod. In a blog post that he wrote about the project, he said that he hopes that the mod will assist school-aged individuals and beyond to understand the world of quantum physics easier. Google has also partnered with MinecraftEdu, which is a project developed by educators from Finland and the United States to use Minecraft as a teaching aid for students.
Although the qCraft mod was just released last week, there are many Minecraft fans who are already showing off many of the unique feats that they can achieve using quantum physics within the game. In one video, a Minecraft player recreated the well-known Schrödinger’s cat thought experiment; in other videos, players have started creating how-to videos and tutorials which showcase how they achieved certain results in the game.
Google’s interest in quantum physics, however, extends beyond their recent incorporation of the laws of nature into Minecraft; earlier this year, they began a new research effort into quantum computing.
